The first Luddy lunch of the year will be held at the Andersons at 1pm on 31st March, ‘Mothering Sunday’. Please could you let Jennifer know if you are coming, by the previous Friday night.
A team of keen volunteers braved the drizzle to make a start on clearing the back of the churchyard. Thanks to all involved!
A huge thank you to Francesca who over the last few weeks has scrubbed clean all the road signs in the village, volunteering her time as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. They were completely filthy beforehand but as you can see they are now sparkling. Thank you!
Due to unforeseen events, the first Luddy Lunch of the year at the Wills’ on 24th January is now cancelled.
Our next Luddy Lunch will be in March at the Anderson’s – more details soon
Its nearly Christmas and on Friday 21st at 7.30pm, we will be having our Christmas Carol party in the Church. For those who don’t know, this is not a carol service but a chance to catch up, sip mulled wine, munch sausage rolls etc and most importantly sing carols accompanied by Ibby who has again kindly agreed to play the organ for us. It’s very informal, very ‘ Christmassy’ and great fun so do come if you can.
Luddington churchyard has been awarded a Bronze Award for churchyard conservation from the Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust.
This award was presented to us by Matt Johnson from the Wildlife Trust at the 2018 Wildlife Trust Churchyard Forum on 2nd November. We were one of four churches receiving an award this year, and now have a certificate and plaque to display at the church.
The award lasts for 3 years, giving us plenty of time to continue with our churchyard wildlife management plan. Hopefully we will be in a position to apply for our silver award in 2021.
Huge thanks to all involved!
For more information please take a look at the Wildlife Churchyard section on the website.
This year our Harvest Festival will be on Sunday 21st October at 12 noon, to be followed by our Harvest Lunch and auction of produce. Rumour has it that there may even be some Luddington honey for sale, so expect the bidding to be fierce…!
Thanks to all who decorated the church and came bearing produce to auction, and for those who shared harvest with us. After the service we tucked into our usual harvest lunch, and then auctioned an amazing assortment of produce. Thank you Stuart for being an excellent auctioneer – even taking bids from a mystery phone bidder! We raised over £450. This will go towards church funds, in particular the cost of resurfacing the field track.
Our final Luddy Lunch of the year will be on Sunday 25th November 1.30pm at Spinney Farm. Please could you let Lucinda know if you are able to come by the previous Friday evening, or contact us here.
